COVID-19 Outbreak: Customer Information

Business Continuity During Current COVID-19 Outbreak: 12.03.20
Tradebe UK
Due to the increasing numbers of reported, suspected and confirmed UK cases of COVID-19, we have established a cross-functional team who are reviewing our established business continuity plans. Our team will ensure our plans reflect the current guidelines and guidance from the Department of Health and the UK Government and where appropriate put in place measures to mitigate risk. We are confident in our preparation and contingency planning for situations such as this.

As this is a dynamic situation, we are in regular communication with the Cabinet Office and are reviewing the updated information supplied by Public Health England, Health Protection Scotland and Public Health Wales. Our business continuity plans will be adapted to ensure they are fit for purposes as the situation develops.

It's important to remember that last year Tradebe Healthcare significantly increased their permitted UK clinical waste treatment capacity within the group by over 35,000 tonnes per annum. Tradebe now has a UK footprint of six facilities that can process clinical waste, with ample spare treatment capacity. In addition, our new Swindon facility is expected to open soon and will bring an additional annualised permit treatment capacity of 8,000 tonnes.

If continuity is required, we will transfer waste internally to one of our alternative treatment facilities as these are strategically placed across the country. Our business continuity plans also address the safety and wellness of our employees, as well as minimum staffing levels for each site.
 –
Third party partners have been identified and if necessary, will assist with some of the small collection customers, should the need arise.

Category B (UN3291) waste is regularly packaged, handled, transported and disposed of by Tradebe Healthcare customers. Therefore, any waste produced by suspected or confirmed 2019-nCoV patients can be placed in a single UN approved orange sack and placed in a tagged, yellow, clinical 770l bin ready for collection with the other clinical waste in the usual manner. This waste will be processed at Tradebe Alternative Treatment sites, which are validated at STATT Level III – more than sufficient to render the waste safe.

As Category B (UN3291) waste is routinely handled on both our sites and yours without incident, continuing to adopt normal good practice when handling the waste will further minimise any risk to all staff.

Tradebe Healthcare will diligently monitor any further guidance so we can act immediately should anything in relation to collection and handling change.

We remain committed to providing the compliant service and support that our customers have come to expect of our company throughout this situation.

Thank you for your continued support in correctly segregating this waste and should you have any questions, please contact your Area Sales Manager or Customer Services
